The Food Shelf is an auxiliary of the Ministry of Outreach but its volunteer staff and governing board are representatives of other local churches. It is housed at the Akeley Regional Community Center (ARCC).  This agency offers food support to those in the communities of Akeley and Nevis.

Its mission is to offer supplementary nutrition to those in need in our service area through an efficient system of collection and distribution of food—striving to preserve the dignity of clients and allowing no discrimination.

Volunteers assist in registering clients, help unload the monthly delivery truck from the Food Bank, and restock the shelves weekly.

The Akeley/Nevis Food Shelf is open for service every Tuesday morning from 9 to 11 a.m and also in the evenings on the second and fourth Tuesdays from 5PM-7PM.  Anyone with questions about service, or anyone interested in volunteering for any of the aforementioned tasks can go in or call 652-2388.
